DIASOL provides creative projects based on the discovery and experimentation of light in photography. Young people learn how to take photographs with minimal equipment, make cameras called cameras obscura with recycled objects, take pictures and develop them. They take up subjects of particular interest to them.

Humanidad is a photographic project involving young people and workshop facilitators from different regions of Quebec and from some Latin American countries. This project consists in providing workshops on learning the role of light in photography and allows cultural exchanges that contribute to the promotion of culture through that artistic medium.

The workshop on portraits is offered at the beginning of the year in Montreal schools. It is an educational alternative to the traditional school photograph and gives children the possibility to experiment with professional portrait technique.

The intercultural creative project is carried out in collaboration with guest artists from Latin America. Staying in Montreal for the duration of the project, these artists exchange views with young Quebecers on the methods they have adopted, which are shaped by their specific cultures and ways of life. They repeat a project previously carried out in their own country so as to show the results of two different cultural groups working on the same subject.

Conference workshops present the different photographic documents made by the children of Latin American countries within the Humanidad project. Through the discussions raised by the viewing of the audiovisual materials filmed at the time of the project and the children’s pictures and texts, they make young Quebecers think about life environment, culture and one’s involvement in family and community life.
