INTERCULTURAL CREATIVE PROJECT

This artistic project is carried out in collaboration with guest artists from Latin America. Staying in Montreal for the duration of the project, these artists exchange views with young Quebecers on the methods they have adopted, which are shaped by their specific cultures and ways of life. They repeat a project previously carried out in their own country so as to show the results of two different cultural groups working on the same subject.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

• Discover another culture through an artistic medium.
• Develop critical judgment when faced with other learning methods.
• Foster cultural exchange.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• Interact with Latin American artists.
• Carry out an artistic project.
• Show the results of the project in a cultural environment.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The participants aimed at by this activity are young people over 12 years old who go to community centers, schools or youth centers in disadvantaged areas.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

The project is organized according to the specialization of the guest artists: drama, animation, sculpture, video, etc. The guests provide groups of young people with workshops on the artistic medium they master. Together they develop a project focused on a selected subject, using that medium.

Activities based on cultural exchanges between young Quebecers and Latin Americans take place within the framework of that project. In this context the projects developed in Quebec and Latin America are shown together in a joint exhibition.
