SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS, ANOTHER APPROACH : PORTRAIT WORKSHOP
The workshop on portraits is offered at the beginning of the year in Montreal schools. It is an educational alternative to the traditional school photograph and gives children the possibility to experiment with professional portrait technique.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Develop expression and creativity through photographic art.
Discover the portraitist’s craft.
Foster exchange between child and professional.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Make a photographic portrait.
Use a digital camera.
Experience teamwork.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This workshop is provided for students from 6 to 17 years of age in greater Montreal's primary and secondary schools.
PROPOSED ACTIVITIES
Students are given a short introductory talk about portrait photography and learn how to use a digital camera. Then each child, teamed up with another one and supervised by one of the DIASOL professionals, makes a portrait: each child is in turn the photographer and the subject. The pupils’ parents are next presented with the photographs.
